This early Victorian partners writing table belongs to the Victorian period and is constructed from rich warm brown mahogany with a brass and red leather material combination. The rectangular top incorporates a hand-dyed red leather insert set within a decorative gilt-tooled border, while the frieze contains three drawers fitted with circular brass handles and keyhole escutcheons. The structure is supported by heavy, robustly turned cylindrical legs that taper downward and terminate in small brass castors. Measuring 74 cm high, 183 cm wide and 110.5 cm deep, the table provides a substantial surface designed for dual use from opposite sides. In a modern interior, this functional desk works well positioned centrally in a home study, executive office or spacious library room. It offers ample working space for daily tasks while maintaining a traditional gentleman's aesthetic suited to professional or domestic workspaces alike.

A partners writing table is a double-sided desk designed in the 19th century to allow two work partners to sit opposite each other, featuring drawers or cupboards accessible from both sides.

Victorian writing tables were predominantly constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, frequently topped with gold-tooled leather writing surfaces and fitted with brass hardware.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass castors or escutcheons, solid wood construction with natural age patina, and period-correct turning techniques on the legs.

Place the table as a floating centrepiece in a home office or library, pairing the rich mahogany tones with modern task lighting and contemporary seating to create a balanced scheme.

Clean the timber with a soft microfibre cloth and apply beeswax periodically, while keeping the leather insert lightly conditioned and protected from direct sunlight and heat sources.
