Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Regency dining table takes the form of a triple pedestal extendable table seating ten to twelve people, made from dark brown figured mahogany with brass fittings. The piece has a polished finish showing natural timber grain, a moulded rectangular panel frieze, and turned reeded pedestal columns on shaped platform bases with scrolled carved feet. The table measures 72.5 cm high, 121.5 cm wide, and 247 cm deep, and can separate into a smaller table or two console tables. In a modern home, the table functions as a large dining table for a principal reception or dining room, accommodating ten to twelve guests for meals and gatherings. It can also separate into smaller configurations for flexible everyday use or entertaining.

FAQs

Regency dining tables, dating from the early 19th century, are noted for classical proportions, fine veneers, and pedestal bases with splayed legs often terminating in brass castors.

These tables were predominantly crafted from high-grade Cuban or West Indian mahogany, frequently featuring figured timber veneers, reeded edges, and solid wood extension leaves.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut joinery, original brass clip mechanisms or brass castors, natural oxidation beneath the tabletop, and genuine patination across the mahogany timber.

Balance the visual weight of dark mahogany by pairing the table with neutral upholstered dining chairs, understated wall finishes, and contemporary ceiling light fixtures.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish twice annually, while protecting the timber surface from direct heat sources and excessive moisture.
