Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of eighteenth-century Georgian wall brackets is made from solid walnut with a warm medium brown timber tone. Each piece displays intricate acanthus leaf carving, elaborate scrollwork, prominent volute curves, and fine patera detailing along the frieze and brackets. The architectural design incorporates shaped ledges, deep under-mount supports, and decorative openwork framing that mounts directly onto vertical surfaces. Each bracket measures 34 cm high, 34 cm wide, and 24 cm deep. They suit placement in a traditional hallway, drawing room, or study, providing functional shelving for small decorative objects, urns, or porcelain figures. These fixtures bring classical English country house character to interior walls while offering practical display space in compact architectural areas.

FAQs

Georgian wall brackets are decorative architectural supports originating in 18th-century Britain, crafted to display porcelain, busts, or clocks while featuring intricate hand-carved classical motifs.

Dense hardwoods such as walnut and mahogany were primary choices, often hand-carved using joinery techniques, gouges, and chisels to form detailed scrollwork and foliage.

Authentic pieces feature subtle hand-carved variations, tool marks on unpolished reverse sides, natural wood contraction around joints, and aged patina within deep recesses.

They can be mounted symmetrically on either side of a central mirror or artwork to display small decorative objects, sculptural items, or ceramics, adding architectural depth to plain walls.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft brush to reach inside carved recesses, and apply high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once a year, avoiding chemical sprays.
