This antique side table dates from 1900 and originates from India, constructed in solid rosewood with a warm brown timber colour and white bovine bone tusks. The circular top features a carved foliate pattern across the surface and a repeated motif along the border apron, while the tripod base consists of three legs shaped as detailed elephant heads with trunks extending downward. The timber displays crisp carving and the legs unbolt for transportation. Standing 59 cm high, 60 cm wide and 60 cm deep, the table provides a practical surface for everyday use. Positioned in a gentleman's library or beside a sofa, this occasional table serves as a functional display area for lamps, books or drinks while remaining stable enough for daily placement. The flat top surface accommodates glasses in any position without tipping, combining decorative Anglo-Indian style with everyday utility.

Anglo-Indian furniture refers to items produced in India during British colonial rule, combining Western functional forms with traditional Indian hand-carving motifs, such as tripod legs shaped as elephant heads.

These tables were typically crafted from dense, locally sourced hardwoods such as solid rosewood or teak, often featuring bone or ivory inlay for accents like tusks and eyes.

Authentic pieces exhibit visible hand-tooling marks, dense natural timber grain, traditional joinery techniques, and natural patination on both the carved surfaces and structural joints.

This type of table functions as an accent piece or side table alongside contemporary upholstered seating, or as a display stand for ceramics and foliage in living areas.

Maintain the surface by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying natural beeswax polish periodically while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement.
