The Martini-Henry is a lever-action, single-shot breech-loading firearm adopted by British forces during the late nineteenth century, combining Friedrich von Martinis breech mechanism with Alexander Henrys rifling design.

These firearms were typically constructed using a solid walnut wood stock fitted with forged steel action components, receiver, barrel, and iron sling attachments.

Authentic examples feature specific military ordnance stamps, manufacturer markings on the receiver, proof marks on the barrel, and the characteristic falling-block lever mechanism located behind the trigger guard.

An antique military carbine can be displayed mounted horizontally on bespoke wall brackets above a fireplace mantelpiece, integrated into a study wall gallery, or mounted inside a glazed display case.

Preservation requires keeping the item in a temperature-controlled environment with low humidity, periodically applying microcrystalline wax to wooden elements, and lightly oiling metal surfaces to prevent oxidisation.
