Impressive Chinese Qing Dynasty carved hardwood console table, dating to circa 1840, featuring exceptionally elaborate pierced and relief-carved decoration

The long rectangular top is supported by a richly carved openwork frieze, profusely decorated with scrolling branches, foliage and clusters of fruit

The carving continues across the substantial lower stretcher, centred by a bold floral motif and surrounded by further entwined foliage and fruit

Raised on graceful cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet, the table has a rich, dark patina that beautifully emphasises the depth and intricacy of the carving
