Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Demi-lune tables, or half-moon tables, originated in traditional Chinese woodwork as versatile modular furniture designed during the Ming and Qing dynasties. These paired semi-circular tables were crafted to be positioned against walls individually as consoles or joined together to form a unified round central table for formal gatherings.

Typically constructed from hardwoods such as elm or pine, these tables were joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery without metal nails. The surfaces were treated with multiple layers of natural sap lacquer, decorated with carved aprons featuring geometric key-fret patterns and cabriole legs.

Authentic pieces display natural age-related craquelure, surface wear along high-touch edges, and hand-carved joinery underneath the frames. Genuine lacquer develops a distinct depth and subtle colour variation over decades, unlike modern synthetic sprayed finishes.

The pair can be positioned together as a circular centrepiece in a foyer or hallway to create a focal point. Alternatively, separating the demi-lunes enables them to flank a doorway, fireplace, or corridor wall as matching consoles.

Maintain stable humidity levels and keep the tables away from direct sunlight or direct heat sources to prevent the timber and lacquer from splitting. Clean the surface using a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, silicone polishes, or excessive water.
