Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Regency period in Great Britain (circa 18111820), wine coolers and cellarettes were status symbols designed for formal dining rooms. They were crafted to hold ice and keep bottled wine cool during multi-course meals, often styled in classical sarcophagus forms influenced by ancient Roman and Greek archaeology.

19th-century cellarettes were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany and decorated with high-grade flame mahogany veneers. The interiors were typically lined with lead or zinc to hold meltwater, and fitted with brass hardware, handles, and castors for mobility.

Authentic Regency pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery, period-correct brass castors, and heavy timber construction. Look for rich book-matched flame mahogany veneers, classical mouldings, and evidence of original metal interior linings or historical restorations.

A wine cooler functions as a unique side table, low console, or freestanding storage chest. Modern decorators place them in living rooms, dining rooms, or wide entryways to hold spirits, extra linens, or act as an anchor piece beneath art installations.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood movement, cracking, and fading of the original finish.
