London City Antiques has dated this Mahogany Pedestal Dining Table to the 1800s.
The exceptional quality of the timber is particularly evident across the expansive polished surface.

The table is supported by three substantial turned pedestal columns, each raised on four elegant splayed and reeded mahogany sabre legs terminating in the original brass cup castors. The three-pedestal construction provides excellent support for a table of this impressive scale while retaining an elegant and beautifully balanced appearance.

At 276 cm long and an unusually generous 148.2 cm wide, the table will comfortably accommodate approximately 10–12 diners depending on the size and style of chairs used. Its exceptional width also provides plenty of space through the centre for serving dishes, flowers and table decoration, making it particularly well suited to entertaining.

The outstanding choice of figured mahogany and quality of craftsmanship suggest this was a high-status piece, very possibly produced by a leading cabinetmaker of the period and potentially made as a private commission.

Condition:
In beautiful original condition with minor age-related marks and wear consistent with age and use. The mahogany retains a magnificent colour and figuring, with the original brass cup castors remaining in place.
