Antique French Inlaid Bureau Plat Desk

Description

An absolutely exquisite antique French inlaid bureau plat desk. This was made in France, it dates from around the 1880-1890 period.

It is one of the finest examples we’ve ever come across, it has an elegant and stylish design with some of the most fantastic inlaid patterns. The top is profusely inlaid with various woods, there is marquetry around the edges and parquetry in the centre. There is further beautiful inlaid marquetry work around the edges, and extremely high quality ormolu mounts. There is a single drawer on the front, the back is also nicely finished and appears identical, only without a drawer.

We have had this recently French polished, the condition is excellent for its age.

Depth – 27 inches , 69 cm

Height – 29 inches , 73 cm

Knee height – 24 inches , 60 cm
