19th Century French Fully Glazed Green Confit Pot

Description

Originating from Burgundy, this beautiful pot is rare in that it is fully glazed in a deep forest green on the exterior while the interior glaze is creamy ochre.

These jars, which are very hard to come by and sought after by collectors, were intended for above ground pantry use, so the entire body was sealed to protect against moisture.

The bubbles around the rim were created in the kiln when the pot was made.

A gorgeous decorative piece with a very small chip to one side (as shown in the second photo).

Otherwise in immaculate condition for its age.

Dimensions in cm: height 25.5, top diameter 18, base diameter 12.5, full width handle to handle 26.
