A handsome Victorian mahogany library or serving table, dating to the mid-19th century, with particularly attractive architectural proportions and a rich, warm mahogany colour.

The rectangular top has a gently moulded edge and sits above three useful frieze drawers, each retaining simple turned bun handles and individual key escutcheons. The reverse is unusually well finished with three corresponding false drawer fronts, allowing the table to be positioned freely within a room rather than necessarily against a wall.

The substantial base is especially decorative, with elegantly shaped end supports united by a long turned and ringed stretcher, the whole raised on shaped platform feet retaining their original castors.

A wonderfully versatile piece of Victorian furniture, equally suited for use as a library table, serving table or generous console table. Its finished reverse makes it particularly effective placed centrally in a large hallway, drawing room or dining room.

The table is accompanied by a removable protective glass top, helping preserve the mahogany surface whilst allowing it to remain in practical everyday use.
