Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A brush pot, or bitong, is a traditional Chinese vessel used to hold calligraphy and painting brushes. Originating primarily as an essential implement in the scholars studio, these objects evolved during the Ming and Qing dynasties into decorative symbols of taste, literary appreciation, and refined craftsmanship.

Brush pots were crafted from a variety of dense organic and mineral materials, including precious hardwoods like Zitan and Huanghuali, carved bamboo, rootwood, lacquer, porcelain, jade, and bronze.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural patination, subtle joint shrinkage, and signs of wear along the base and rim consistent with age. Hand-carved details, the weight density of traditional Asian hardwoods, and integrated structural elements like fitted stands also help distinguish period items from modern reproductions.

A carved wooden brush pot can be placed on an executive office desk, bookshelf, or sideboard as an accent piece. Its sculptural form complements contemporary minimalist schemes, dark wood libraries, and eclectic art collections.

Keep wooden brush pots away from direct sunlight, central heating vents, and extreme humidity changes to prevent timber cracking or warping. Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply natural beeswax sparingly to preserve the wood finish.
