Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian loo table was originally designed in the 19th century for playing the popular card game Loo. These tables typically feature an oval or round top mounted on a central pedestal with a snap-top tilting mechanism to clear floor space when not in use.

These tables were commonly crafted using dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood. Fine examples showcase high-figured burr walnut veneers quarter-matched across the surface, set over solid timber frames with carved pedestal legs.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut wood veneers, brass or cast iron catch mechanisms under the top, and hand-carved details along the pedestal legs. Period pieces often exhibit natural wood movement and age-appropriate wear to the original finish.

These versatile pieces work well as focal centre tables in foyers, functional breakfast tables in dining nooks, or occasional side tables. The top can be left in the upright tilted position against a wall to display the natural wood grain as decorative wall art.

Keep walnut furniture away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent the veneer from drying out or fading. Regular dusting with a soft cloth and occasional application of high-quality beeswax will protect the timber and retain its natural sheen.
