Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A loo table was designed during the 18th and 19th centuries specifically for playing Loo, a popular card game of the era. These tables typically feature an oval or circular top attached to a central pedestal base with a tilting mechanism, allowing the table to be stored vertically against a wall when not in use.

Victorian craftsmen favoured burr walnut wood cut from the root nodules of the walnut tree for its distinctive swirling grain patterns. Veneers were applied over sturdy solid timber frames, frequently featuring decorative marquetry or boxwood stringing inlay, balanced on turned or carved timber pedestals.

Authentic 19th-century examples display hand-cut brass tilt-latch mechanisms, original iron or brass castors beneath carved legs, and naturally aged timber undersides with hand-saw marks. Veneers on authentic pieces show age-appropriate patina and subtle shrinkage marks along the grain lines.

A Victorian loo table can serve as a focal point in an entryway or foyer, function as an occasional dining or breakfast table, or be positioned in a living room bay window. When placed in modern settings, the rich walnut grain provides contrast against contemporary neutral wall tones.

Maintain a consistent room humidity to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically, avoiding modern silicone-based sprays, direct sunlight, and placement near heat sources.
