A fine antique Chinese Canton enamel-on-copper bowl dating to the Guangxu period of the late Qing Dynasty, circa 1885–1905. The scalloped body is entirely hand-painted in the distinctive Famille Noire style with a dense, continuous Millefleurs design of peonies, chrysanthemums and lilies, demonstrating the refined decorative taste of late nineteenth-century Canton export enamels.The contrasting white enamel interior is decorated with the traditional Three Abundances (Sanduo) motif of a pomegranate, peach and Buddha''s Hand citron, symbols of fertility, longevity and prosperity in Chinese culture.
