This George III occasional table belongs to the Georgian period, dating from circa 1760. The piece is constructed from mahogany with a warm brown timber colour and a polished finish. A circular top rests upon a central turned column that incorporates a spiral turned knop above three splayed cabriole legs ending in pad feet. Practical dimensions measure 83 cm in diameter and 70 cm in height. Traditional proportions and sturdy construction make this antique suitable for placement at the end of a sofa in a living room, study or country house interior. The round surface provides a convenient resting place for drinks, books or lighting, while the compact tripod base allows it to fit neatly into corners or beside seating arrangements.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply beeswax once or twice yearly along the grain, and position away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber movement.

Position the table beside a sofa or accent armchair to serve as a functional drink or lamp stand, allowing the deep timber tone to add character to contemporary upholstery.

Authentic period examples exhibit irregular hand-planing marks on the underside, hand-cut joinery on the bearer block, subtle asymmetry from hand-turning, and natural timber shrinkage across the grain.

These tables were constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, utilising hand-turned central columns, dovetail joints, and hand-carved legs.

A George III tripod table is an eighteenth-century piece of British occasional furniture featuring a circular top supported by a central turned pedestal and three splayed legs.
