Early 20thC Slingsby Library or Museum Steps, Pitch Pine and Elm, 187cm C1920s.
A handsome set of early 20th century, English library or museum steps by reputable English cabinet maker workshop Slingsby, dating circa 1920.
The 187cm tall, 7 rung steps with a pitch pine frame and elm steps, the frame wider at the base and rising to a velvet cushioned top to lean against a wall, bookcase, cabinets etc.., the velvet was probably later applied during the mid 20th century, attached with brass upholsterers pins and the original suede is visible still beneath.
A superbly stylish set of library steps in original condition with no repairs, whilst revealing an elegant timeworn patination, makers label and inventory number stencilled to the side.
