Anthony Short Antiques has dated this Moorish Inlay Side Table to the 19th Century.
The rectangular top is centred by a striking mother-of-pearl medallion with intricate arabesque design, framed by a galleried edge with delicate geometric inlay and ebonised corner blocks. The front is fitted with a wide drawer, richly carved with scrolling motifs and retaining its original turned round pulls. The case is adorned with dramatic open fretwork panels in the Moroccan / Moorish style, showcasing highly skilled pierced carving. Elegantly turned legs, terminating in round peg feet, complete the strongly architectural silhouette. Every surface of the table displays meticulous hand carved and inlaid detail, reflecting the very best of late 19th-century decorative arts craftsmanship.

An outstanding and sculptural piece, this rare Moorish writing table makes a superb focal point in both refined traditional interiors and sophisticated contemporary settings, ideal as a writing desk, console, or statement hall table.
