The quality is superb, this has a beautifully shaped serpentine front and sits on cabriole legs with acanthus leaf carving at the knees. The single drawer has high quality pierced brass handles and fine, hand cut dovetailed joints.

We have had this stripped and re-polished to a very high standard, the condition is excellent for its age. There is just some minor wear remaining beneath the polish here and there.

This Queen Anne revival console table dates from the 1930s and is made in England from warm brown burr walnut and walnut with brass hardware. The design has a serpentine front, a single drawer with hand-cut dovetailed joints and pierced brass drop handles, and slender cabriole legs with acanthus leaf carving at the knees. The surfaces have a polished finish, and the piece measures 71 cm high, 61 cm wide, and 36 cm deep. In a modern interior, this piece serves well as a side table or console table placed beside the front door to hold keys and small items, or positioned in a hallway, living room, or bedroom to display decorative objects.

Queen Anne style console tables originated in early 18th-century England, characterised by cabriole legs, pad or club feet, and subtle carved accents such as shell motifs on the knees.

Burr walnut side tables typically feature decorative veneers cut from walnut tree burls, applied over a solid wood frame such as pine or oak, often finished with solid walnut legs and brass hardware.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, natural age-related shrinkage in veneer panels, original patination, and hand-carved detailing on the leg knees.

A burr walnut console table functions well in an entry hallway beneath a mirror, or positioned behind a contemporary sofa to balance traditional wood tones with modern upholstery.

Maintain burr walnut by dusting regularly with a soft cloth, applying high-quality beeswax twice yearly, and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent veneer lifting.
