Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian burr walnut tables are recognised for their highly figured grain patterns, created from the dense, swirled wood cut from walnut tree burls. Popular during the mid-to-late nineteenth century, these tables frequently feature intricate marquetry, ebonised stringing, and elaborate hand-carved support structures.

Cabinetmakers applied highly prized burr walnut veneers over solid timber cores, often combining them with ebonised wood borders, satinwood or boxwood inlay, and hand-carved solid walnut or mahogany legs equipped with brass castors.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display symmetrical bookmatched veneers, hand-carved undercarriages showing subtle tool marks, original brass castors, and signs of genuine age-related oxidisation on the underside timber.

A low Victorian walnut table functions well as a central focal point in a living room, where the rich timber grain provides texture against modern upholstered sofas and neutral floor coverings.

Clean surfaces by dusting with a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly along the grain to nourish the timber, and protect the veneer from direct heat sources and sunlight.
