Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Imperial German officer parade helmet is a spiked or plumed leather and metal dress helmet worn by officers of the German Imperial Army prior to and during the early stages of the First World War. These helmets typically displayed state coats of arms and were fitted with horsehair plumes for formal parade occasions.

These helmets were primarily constructed using pressed boiled leather for the shell, fitted with cast brass, gilded bronze, or silver-plated fittings. Plumes were typically made from natural horsehair attached to a metal plume holder mounted on the crown.

Authentic pieces display distinct period construction techniques, including hand-chased metal frontplates (Wappen), correct regimental state markings, natural age-related oxidisation on metalwork, and leather showing authentic age crazing rather than modern synthetic wear.

Military helmets are best displayed on custom wooden or metal helmet stands within glazed cabinets, on library shelving, or on mahogany sideboards to highlight their sculptural and historical qualities.

Keep the item in a temperature-controlled environment away from direct sunlight and humidity. The leather should be kept dry and untreated by modern chemical conditioners, while brass components should be dusted gently without aggressive abrasives that strip original gilding or patina.
