19th Century Jogltisch Table.Originating from the Joglland region of Austria, dated to around 1870, and recently sourced in Switzerland.Constructed in pine with a traditional mortice-and-tenon base, supporting a joined oak plank top. The table features one large central drawer, accessible from both sides, alongside a narrower side drawer fitted with internal compartments.The Jogltisch was traditionally the social heart of the home � used for meals, gatherings, celebrations, mourning, conversation, prayer, and even trading or business negotiations. In many rural households, where cupboards and chests were scarce, important documents and belongings were often stored discreetly beneath the movable tabletop.Diameter 124 cm � Height 77 cmInterestingly, this example carries personal provenance.
