FAQs

Edwardian furniture, spanning roughly from 1901 to 1910, often moved away from heavy Victorian ornamentation towards lighter, simpler designs influenced by earlier historical periods such as Georgian and Sheraton, whilst retaining solid craftsmanship.

Tables from this era were predominantly constructed from native hardwoods such as English or European oak, walnut, and mahogany, utilizing traditional joinery techniques like mortise and tenon.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage, natural patination, and tool marks on the underside or interior surfaces, distinguishing them from modern reproductions.

Pairing a heavy timber table with minimalist modern seating creates a balanced contrast that highlights the natural grain and historical character of the wood without overwhelming the space.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber and prevent drying.
