A Regency games table is a multi-functional piece of furniture designed during the early 19th century to accommodate social pastimes such as card games, chess, and backgammon in middle- and upper-class drawing rooms.

These tables were typically constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany or rosewood, frequently featuring intricateveneers, marquetry, and fine boxwood or ebony stringing details on the playing surfaces.

Authentic pieces generally display period-correct joinery, hand-turned pedestals, brass paw castors, and natural ageing of the timber and polish consistent with the early 1800s.

Such pieces can function as focal points in a study or living area, either left folded as a console or opened partially to showcase the inlaid wood craftsmanship as a functional accent piece.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and apply occasional traditional beeswax polish to protect the timber without sealing the historic finish.
