Miles Griffiths Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 17th Century.
Believed to be from the Scottish borders, in superb condition, still in the original paint that has never been overpainted. Very, very heavy, made in solid chestnut vertical boards that have masses of handmade, chamfered oak stud nail heads. Complete with the original beautiful large iron hinges with both retaining the gudgeon holes to receive a pin to hang. Even has the iron handle and keyhole. The back of the door is horizontally boarded in chestnut, all original and the door has the iron sneck and sliding iron bolt. This is a wonderful rare antique door that is an amazing colour, could be left dry as it is, or waxed to reveal an even more ridiculous colour. Perfect to build into your country home, castle or just to admire leant up against a wall. You won’t find another of these anywhere! In superb original condition.
