A magnificent terracotta sculpture of a Medici lion. The maned lion with its left forepaw resting upon a sphere or ball. This specific pose is characteristic of the "Medici lion" style.

The sculpture is made of unglazed terracotta and stands upon a rectangular rococo style scroll gilded bronze base.

French, 1890s

Condition: Good antique condition, minimal signs of wear consistent with age & use.
