Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

A ceiling boss is a decorative keystroke or knob found at the intersection of ribbed vaulting in medieval and gothic architecture, historically serving both a structural purpose to cover joints and a decorative function.

Historical ceiling bosses were typically crafted from dense local hardwoods such as English oak, or carved from stone and plaster depending on the building type and era.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-tool marks from gouges and chisels, natural timber shrinkage, oxidisation and colour variation consistent with age, and dense grain patterns characteristic of slow-grown historic hardwoods.

An architectural fragment can be mounted on a neutral wall as a focal sculpture, displayed on a custom metal stand on a console table, or integrated into bespoke cabinetry for historical texture.

Preserve antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and dramatic humidity fluctuations, occasionally dusting with a soft dry brush, and avoiding synthetic polishes or waxes.
