FAQs

Tea trolleys and wagons gained popularity in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods as domestic service evolved and formal drawing-room entertaining became more relaxed.

They are typically constructed from solid oak or mahogany, featuring turned barley-twist supports, drop-leaf mechanisms, and small metal castors with rubber or brass wheels.

Authentication involves examining the timber grain, hand-cut joinery, traditional hardware such as slotted brass screws, and the natural patina and wear on the wheels and lower shelf.

It functions effectively as a mobile home bar or cocktail station in a living room, contrasting historical woodwork with modern glassware and bottles.

Maintenance requires dusting with a soft, dry cloth and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the timber, avoiding silicone-based polishes and direct sunlight exposure.
