Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1860 Victorian militaria antique firearm is a pinfire double-barrel pistol complete with a foldaway bayonet. The piece combines dark grey steel and iron components with a dark hardwood grip. Visual details include dual hammers, drop-down triggers, a checkered textured plate behind the breech, and a fluted handle featuring a small loop at the base. The integrated bayonet blade extends forward from the barrel assembly. The item measures 12 cm high by 23 cm wide by 3 cm deep, extending to 31 cm with the bayonet deployed. In a modern interior, this piece serves as a distinctive display object suited for a bookshelf or a gentleman's library setting. The utilitarian military design presents clear historical interest for collectors of antique weaponry and 19th-century artefacts. The compact proportions allow placement within display cabinets or on dedicated desk stands. The dark metal finish and carved wooden grip contribute an authentic historical aesthetic to interior spaces dedicated to period studies or militaria collections.

FAQs

A pinfire pistol is a mid-19th-century firearm engineered to fire self-contained metallic cartridges featuring a small igniter pin that protrudes radially near the cartridge base, which is struck by the hammer.

These sidearms were constructed using forged steel or iron for the barrels and mechanical action, paired with carved hardwoods, ebony, or vulcanite for the textured handgrips.

Authentic pieces feature distinctive notched hammers and open breech notches designed to accommodate the exposed cartridge pins, along with period proof marks stamped into the receiver or barrel.

Inert historical items are best mounted in bespoke glass shadow boxes, polished brass display stands, or glass cabinet vitrines to serve as sculptural focal points on a study desk or bookshelf.

Protect metal surfaces from oxidisation by applying a light coat of microcrystalline wax or gun oil, storing the object in a low-humidity environment, and dusting gently with a soft microfibre cloth.
