For sale, a good pair of Chinese Blue & White Ovid jars and covers dating to the Kangxi period, circa 1690. Each jar decorated with tree & floral panel scenes on a moulded ringed foot and with a short stout neck. Both with lids, one matching the other not. Both jars with one or two long lines as shown in pics, these will clean, there are no losses. Old collectors label on one. Size approx. 17cm tall including lids. A most attractive pair of jars which are both in reasonable aged condition and from the Kangxi period. Price £975.00 including shipping to within the UK.

Kangxi period porcelain refers to ceramics produced during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor (16621722) in China. This era is renowned for its high-quality white porcelain and vibrant cobalt blue underglaze decoration featuring precise brushwork and refined botanical or landscape motifs.

These jars were made using natural kaolin clay combined with petuntse (porcelain stone), fired at extremely high temperatures to create a hard-paste porcelain. The decoration was applied using natural cobalt oxide before firing with a clear glaze.
