Antique Edwardian Brass Inlaid Envelope Card Table

1900 - 1920
Description

A unique and attractive Edwardian mahogany envelope card table. The square top twists on its base and opens in the form of an envelope to reveal a green baize card-playing surface, complete with circular divots for holding chips or other game pieces. To one side is a fitted drawer with ceramic knob handles, accented with fine brass inlay. A shaped apron runs the full way around the table, with inlay throughout, and additional inlay detailing enhances the sides and legs, highlighting the quality craftsmanship. The table is raised on four elegant cabriole legs with carved detail, each terminating in castors for ease of movement. A particularly fine example, full of character and charm.

In good antique condition overall, showing signs of age consistent with use. There is surface wear and age-related marks and scratches throughout the piece.
