Delftware is a type of tin-glazed earthenware, most famously produced in the Netherlands and England during the 17th and 18th centuries, heavily inspired by imported Chinese porcelain.

These pieces are crafted from local clay bodies, coated with an opaque white tin glaze, hand-painted with metallic oxide pigments (typically cobalt blue), and fired in a kiln.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit characteristic glaze fritting along the rim, hand-painted brushwork with slight imperfections, soft earthenware bodies underneath losses, and historical potting traits consistent with period manufacturing techniques.

An antique ceramic piece adds historical texture when displayed on a wooden surface, mounted on a wall using specialized plate hangers, or grouped within open shelving alongside contemporary objects.

Maintain pieces in stable indoor humidity away from direct sunlight, clean only with a dry or lightly dusted soft cloth, and avoid submersion in water due to the porous nature of the earthenware body and delicate glaze.
