Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Vitreous enamel signs became prominent in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a durable form of commercial outdoor advertising across the United Kingdom. Companies used them to promote products, publications, and services due to their weather-resistant properties and bright, non-fading colours.

These signs were produced by fusing powdered glass to heavy iron or steel sheets at high temperatures in a furnace. Layering different coloured enamels through stencilling created crisp, raised typography and long-lasting graphics.

Authentic period signs typically feature heavy gauge metal, subtle raised layers where different colour enamels meet, and authentic oxidisation around fixing holes and edges. Modern reproductions often feel lighter, smooth to the touch, and display artificially applied distressing.

Vintage enamel signs make ideal focal points in industrial, rustic, or modern eclectic spaces. They can be mounted on exposed brickwork, styled within a gallery wall, or displayed on a narrow wall space in a hallway or kitchen to add graphic interest.

Clean the surface gently using a soft cloth moistened with warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could scratch the enamel surface. Exposed metal along rusted edges can be treated with a light application of neutral wax to arrest further oxidisation.
