A superb quality William IV rosewood sewing table, of elegant proportions and rich patina. The table is crafted in beautiful rosewood with an octagonal table top, below a pleated silk-lined sewing basket with a decorative braid border remains in good order, providing practical storage.
The frieze incorporates a smoothly running drawer, ideal for small implements or threads. The table is supported by finely turned and carved support columns, decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, which leads down to a shaped base. The base rests on bold turned bun feet, each capped with finely carved roundels.
This piece displays all the hallmarks of quality William IV cabinetmaking, combining functionality with decorative flair. Its compact size makes it a versatile addition to both period and contemporary interiors, whether used for its original purpose or as a striking occasional table.
