During the Edwardian and Art Nouveau eras in the early 1900s, leaded glass windows became popular architectural elements in domestic and commercial buildings. They incorporated stylized organic motifs, geometric grids, and vibrant coloured glass to filter natural light and add decorative detail above doorways and in windows.

Traditional leaded glass panels were constructed using hand-cut pieces of coloured, clear, or textured glass assembled within flexible H-shaped lead cames. The joints were soldered together, sealed with waterproof glazing putty, and fitted into sturdy timber or iron frames.

Authentic period leaded glass exhibits minor irregularities in the glass thickness, subtle air bubbles, and a natural dark patina or oxidisation on the lead cames. Additionally, original pieces often feature hand-applied glazing compound and aged wooden framing displaying traditional joinery.
