Description

This is the best quality and most original 18th century Spanish table I have had the pleasure to own. The patina over ever surface is stunning and the diamond detail along the top is a design I have never seen before and looks to be walnut inlaid into the elm top. A true sign of quality. The size is neat but remains practical as a writing table or a large console. The drawer is smooth running and closes flush. The shaped front rail also adds to the incredible design of this piece.

Height 75cm Width 126cm Depth 65cm Height to underside of table top 71cm

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Eighteenth-century Spanish furniture often utilised native hardwoods such as elm and walnut, reflecting regional craftsmanship, utilitarian design, and robust construction suited for domestic and civic interiors.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid native timbers using traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon, hand-cut dovetails for drawers, and forged iron hardware.

Authentication relies on examining hand-planed surface textures, tool marks, period-correct iron fixings, shrinkage patterns, and the natural oxidisation and patina accumulated over centuries.

Pairing a heavily textured antique wooden table with minimalist modern seating or placing it against a neutral wall creates a balanced focal point that highlights its historic character.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and periodically nourish the wood with traditional microcrystalline wax rather than modern silicone polishes.
