Status:This item has been sold Sold by:Cloverleaf Home Interiors
Here we have possibly one of the best pieces of advertising memorabilia to come to market. This miniature shop front has never been sold and comes from a descendant of the Field family. By repute this formed part of the display on their stand at the Royal Jubilee Exhibition in Manchester 1887. Their stand was number 752. Please see the photos below. The item is in beautiful retail condition and totally original. The lettering is gilded and the shop front has all the original Victorian glass. The central mirrored door pays homage to the firms history of being established in 1642 and the Royal Warrant that they obtained in 1820. There is a record of the company dating back to 1588. Although it is not visible from the photos the door entrance made to look like stone also has fine gilded lettering. The company were keen to promote their own developed Ozokerite candles which melted at higher temperatures and they sold a lot to tropical countries and it became the cornerstone of the business....
