Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

An Ottoman flintlock pistol is a handheld firearm utilizing a flintlock ignition mechanism, produced within the Ottoman Empire during the early modern period, often characterised by distinct miquelet locks and ornate metal mounts.

These firearms typically featured forged iron or steel barrels and locks, wooden stocks made from walnut or fruitwood, and often incorporated brass, silver, or bone mounts and wire inlay for reinforcement and decoration.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-correct hand-forged steel components, natural wear and oxidisation on the metal, traditional construction techniques, and hallmark signatures or regional decorative motifs characteristic of the era.

Such historic items are typically displayed securely mounted in specialised shadow boxes, on dedicated desk stands, or within glass-fronted cabinets to highlight their craftsmanship as historical artefacts.

Preservation involves storing the piece in a stable environment with controlled humidity to prevent rust, applying microcrystalline wax to metal surfaces for protection, and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners.
