Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A vintage enamel advertising sign is a durable metal display piece featuring vitreous enamel fused onto iron or steel, widely used by retail brands from the late 19th to mid-20th centuries to promote household products outdoors.

These signs were manufactured using heavy-gauge sheet metal coated with powdered glass particles, which were then baked at high temperatures to create a glossy, weather-resistant porcelain enamel finish with screen-printed or stencilled branding.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit genuine age-related wear such as rust along the mounting holes, chipping enamel with visible dark under-metal, convex curving from heavy stamping, and authentic glass-like gloss rather than modern flat painted finishes.

Interior designers often mount these industrial pieces on plain brick walls or neutral plaster surfaces in kitchens, hallways, or home bars to create a striking focal point that contrasts raw textures with graphic mid-century typography.

Preservation involves gently cleaning the surface with warm water and mild soap to remove dust, avoiding abrasive scouring pads that can damage the fragile glass coating, and applying a microcrystalline wax to stabilise existing rust areas.
