An Attractive 19th Century Moulded Gilt & Gesso Frame No 1a

Description

A very pleasing 19th century gilt frame in excellent order with the original gilding and gesso moulded detail. The frame has an attractive form with raised frieze surrounding a deep inner slip with craquelere effect inside the mount.

The outer detail is also decorative with a nice rubbed back ochre colour and swirling scroll gesso mouldings.

A nice original example with good antique colour and character.

A good size at 80 cms by 65 cms overall

The aperture is 49.5 cms by 34.5 cms.

The rebate for the painting at the back is 51.5 cms by 36.5 cms.

If you were to remove the substantial slip the aperture becomes 57.5 cms by 42.5 cms allowing for a canvas the size of 59 cms by 44 cms in the rebate.

UK insured packing and delivery is £20.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
