Touch of Time Antiques has dated this Royal Crown Derby Ewer to the 1880s.
An exquisite shape, typically reserved for decorating by the most skilled artists and gilders, of classical ovoid form with slender neck and wavy rim, high scroll handle with Bacchus mask terminal rests on a square pedestal foot.
The decoration is nothing short of superb.
Combining numerous techniques, like tooling, raised gilding and burnishing, such work was very difficult and only the most skilled and experienced gilders could provide such top quality of work.
Fully marked underneath the base, printed mark in red, date coded for 1884.
