Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Imari porcelain originates from the town of Arita in the Hizen province of Japan and was extensively exported to Europe from the port of Imari during the Edo period, becoming highly prized by Western royalty and collectors.

Imari pieces are crafted from fine white hard-paste porcelain, traditionally hand-painted underglaze in cobalt blue and overglaze in iron red, complemented by generous applications of gilt detailing.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit slight asymmetries, hand-painted brushwork irregularities, crazing in the glaze, iron-foot rims without glaze, and traditional Japanese floral or brocade motifs characteristic of the period.

These pieces can be used as focal points on sideboards, mantels, or open shelving, pairing their rich palette with neutral tones to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and contemporary design.

To preserve antique porcelain, clean gently with a soft, dry cloth or lukewarm water with mild soap when necessary, avoiding abrasive materials, harsh chemicals, and direct sunlight to protect the surface gilding.
