Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A 19th-century Dutch oak centre table is a substantial circular or oval table designed to sit in the middle of a room, characterised by solid oak planking, visible grain patterns, and robust joinery often reinforced with metalwork.

These tables were constructed primarily from European oak timber, known for its density and durability, and frequently featured hand-forged iron brackets or strapwork for structural support.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of historic hand-craftsmanship, including hand-planed surfaces, peg-jointed construction, natural timber shrinkage over time, and aged iron hardware with dark patination.

A circular oak centre table functions well as an entryway focal point in a large foyer or as a primary dining table paired with modern chairs to create contrast between historic woodwork and contemporary design.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically to preserve the natural grain and protect the finish. Position the item away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
