FAQs

A lowboy is a small table with one or more drawers, originating in the late 17th century during the William and Mary period, commonly used as a dressing table or side table.

Traditional lowboys are predominantly crafted from native timbers such as walnut or oak, featuring dovetail drawer construction, pegged joints, and brass hardware like drop handles.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetailing, timber shrinkage, period-correct patination, original brass fixings, and traditional hand-carved cabriole legs.

An antique lowboy functions effectively as a hallway console, a compact desk in a study, or an accent table beneath a mirror in a contemporary living space.

Preservation requires keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying occasional microcrystalline wax, and avoiding chemical polishes that can damage the antique finish.
