A good quality and rare example of an antique miniature William IV mahogany table, an apprentice piece or salesmans sample dating from circa 1835, perfect as a coffee table. This perfectly scaled down version could be an apprentice piece; used to showcase a young craftsmans skills or could have been a salemans sample; a portable example used by a travelling salesman to show potential customers what could be ordered.
In well-figured mahogany with beautiful age and patina it is of rounded oblong form, the top opening to reveal space inside for storage. It features a beaded edge and stands on baluster turned stem, on concave plateau with turned feet. Would make a very quirky coffee table or occasional table.
