Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A standing boot jack was designed in the early 19th century to allow riders to remove tight riding boots independently. The standing handle provided balance, while the base wedge held the heel secure to slip the boot off without requiring manual assistance.

These items were predominantly crafted from dense hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut to withstand heavy daily wear. Construction typically involved wood-turning for upright columns and hand-cut joinery to secure the upright frame into a heavy timber base board.

Authentic pieces display signs of natural wear where footwear made contact with the wood, alongside hand-turned detailing that exhibits subtle asymmetry. The oak typically shows deep patination, shrinkage marks around timber joints, and honest surface friction wear.

A standing boot jack functions well as a sculptural accessory in a boot room, entry porch, or hallway. Placing it alongside an umbrella stand or coat rack retains its functional context while adding texture and history to utilitarian spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the wood timber moisture. Avoid placing the item near active radiators or direct heat sources to prevent cracking or timber warping.
