The House of Antiques has dated this Folk Art Ship Model to the 1920s.
Amazing detail and charm as shown in the photos provided. Sat on a paper and gesso base this model is made from brass metal, card, wood and cotton detail. All hand painted and with numerous wooden figures scattered across the ship. This item is aged perfectly and firmly in place, the paint has naturally crackled with a natural patina. Someone has truly spent a lot of time and love creating this well proportioned highly decorative piece of art, in our humble opinion. Obtained from a private collection earlier this month.

Dimensions in inches: H 21” x W 33” x D 12”
Age: 1920 - 1930
Origin: England
Condition: Aged
A well aged item with lots of wear and tear, it’s firmly supported by the base as shown. With lost detail and crackled old paint which has stood the test of time over the years. The brass metal hull windows are missing a few as shown, some of the detail has broken off, this item is not new so that’s what we would expect after a 80 to 100 years and the material it’s made from.
