Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian tilt top tripod table is an 18th-century occasional table featuring an oval or circular top attached to a hinged catch on a central turned column with three splayed legs. The top tilts vertically when not in use to conserve floor space along room perimeters.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid dense woods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, joined using traditional hand-cut dovetails and wooden blocks. The central pedestal was turned on a hand lathe, while the three cabriole or down-swept legs were hand-shaped and pegged into the base column.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-planed surfaces, irregular underside tool marks, and original brass or iron tilt latches (snap catches). Examining the base reveals hand-carved dovetail joints connecting the legs to the bottom of the central post rather than modern screws or uniform dowels.

Position the table beside a reading chair or sofa as an accent piece for books and lighting, or display it in a corner with the tabletop tilted vertically to highlight natural timber grain. Its slim profile pairs effectively alongside contemporary upholstered furniture to create visual contrast.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent shrinkage or splitting of the tabletop timber. Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish periodically to protect the original patinated surface finish.
