Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
In its original and untouched condition, it shows very well.
A well constructed late 18th century, circa 1780-1790, round tilt top wine, candle, perhaps breakfast table in original condition, without loss or significant repair that sits and locks well into position and upright when not locked down, a very charming example.
The original single plank top shows an established timeworn patina without any warps, there is a small grain split which is surface only and extends from a root knot on the outer edge but otherwise perfect. The tilt and locking mechanism works perfectly and stands upon a turned pedestal column, terminating at a tripod base arrangement on pad feet, please note that 1 foot has had a minimal and professional repair to the underside pad section and only visibly from beneath.
A very elegant and useable antique, both function and form that can compliment a classic or contemporary space, super colour that only time can produce.
